Clipper Windpower is a rapidly growing company engaged in wind energy technology, turbine manufacturing, and wind project development. With offices in the USA (California, Colorado, Iowa and Maryland), Mexico, Denmark and the United Kingdom, and a ISO9001:2000 QMS Certified, 330,000 square foot manufacturing and assembly facility located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the company designs advanced wind turbines, manufactures its 2.5 MW Liberty wind turbine and actively develops wind power generating projects in the Americas and Europe.

Clipper and the U.K. government are to devlop a 7.5 megawatt offshore turbine, making it the biggest turbine both on and offshore. Just one single 7.5 MW turbine could provide enough electricity for more than 5,500 homes according to Clipper. Germany's Enercon holds the current turbine record, with a 6 MW model.

Clipper will develop the 7.5 MW turbine in Blyth, England, as part of a two year development called the "Britannia Project." The U.K. government's One North East regional development agency is contributing £5 million for the project.
